The railway has seen very little investment and there is only one route to Belfast by rail, which is surprising.

Shopping in Derry is however impressive and would be the best that the North West of Ireland has to offer. The city centre itself has two main shopping malls with an excellent mixture of chain stores, complementing further smaller shops in some of the city’s smaller streets. Waterloo Street is the focal point of much of the social activity with a great selection of bars and restaurants becoming particularly busy at the weekends.
